The recent uproar surrounding Pastor John Hagee is only remarkable in the sense that it took so long in coming. The fundamentalist pastor of the 19,000- member Cornerstone “mega-church” in San Antonio, Texas, has long shown himself to be not just anti- Semitic, but also anti-Islamic and anti-Catholic.
I have attempted to watch Hagee speak, but cannot stomach it for more than a couple of minutes at a time. He is thoroughly racist, and yes, anti-human in a way. I cannot believe it took so long for his crazy, racist views to gain regular media attention, but Hagee and others like him have the power that comes from lots of money. Israel, on the other hand, apparently doesn’t care what Hagee says, just as long as he and his followers and colleagues continue in the unerring support for Israel’s racist, inhumane policies of apartheid and oppression. It is thoroughly disgusting. Peace
