When Will This Bloody War End?!

“Dozens dead as Iraq cities bombed”, “Operations target Basra militants”, “Iraqi cleric threatens open war”. These are some of the latest headlines coming out of Iraq today. Everyday it’s the same news. Fifty people dead here; seventy people dead there; more U.S. soldiers died today as fighting escalates… When will this illegal occupation end? How much more innocent Iraqi blood has to be spilled for this unjust war? How many more soldiers have to come home in body bags? Haven’t the war-mongering terrorists gotten their fill yet? I guess the lives of Iraqis and soldiers amounts to somewhere around $117 a barrel.

Thomas Jefferson said, “I hope it is practical, by improving the mind and morals of society, to lessen the disposition to war; but of its abolition I despair.” There is hope, however. I can hear the voices of dissent getting louder and louder with every single body being laid to rest. The will of the people will have to be heard at some point. I have to believe that the voice of the antiwar movement is becoming a deafening cry. We cannot stop fighting for an end to this terrible, unimaginable hell that our current administration has created. Peace.
